I’ve always been a curious person which was evident in my first-grade hobby of reading Nancy Drew books and trying to puzzle together the clues into a solution for whatever mystery plagued the particular story. It evolved into consuming all of Sherlock Holmes within a week and using an entire summer to devour each and every one of Enid Blyton’s books concerning mysteries. That need to know and that need to figure out has manifested differently now. I enjoy learning and those research papers in English class that everyone hates — I loved.
Now, reading has shifted from my passion to a means to pursue my passions. Passions, of which I have multiple. I love business and entrepreneurship. This love started when I joined an entrepreneurship course the summer before freshman year but really manifested during the end-of-course project where I developed a business plan and a financial plan. This activity sparked a deep interest.
One thing I want to learn more about and delve into is data. This, on the surface, sounds odd. But to me, it makes perfect sense. Math’s my forte. I love numbers. I love calculus and trigonometry and statistics and algebra and all the above. I love working with numbers and data sets. So isn’t data science the logical next step?
I want to use my passions in entrepreneurship and data science to make STEM education more accessible to especially girls.
Stay tuned and I look forward to sharing my work in this area!
