google and the biomedical ai system

Google’s latest announcement about their generalist biomedical AI system is a breakthrough in many ways. The system can carry out a wide range of tasks needing little or no task-specific labelled data. This new innovation will allow researchers and industry professionals to solve more diverse and unique kinds of problems. By enabling flexible modalities, the range of reasoning becomes much larger and more integrated. For end-users, they can now inputs and get as outputs multi-modal data – imagine seamlessly switching between text, video, audio, and other data formats.

I am looking forward to learning more about these advances, and hope to find ways to design and build use-cases for brain science and Alzheimer’s, where we can use data from ‘full biological’ systems to search for elusive insights and answers from a brain science angle.

This is such a cool breakthrough and it will be exciting what kinds of solutions are built on this platform.
